For a bit of fun and to celebrate the success of our new Handwoven department Yarn Lab, we're having a Handwoven haiku contest! The first prize is some fabulous yak and yak blend yarns donated by Bijou Basin Ranch.
We’ll be awarding the Bijou Basin yarns featured in the May/June 2012 Yarn Lab to the author of the best weaving- or fiber -related haiku. We’re accepting up to two original submissions per person until October 15, 2012, after which time we’ll pick one lucky prize winner and a few of our other favorites to publish in the January/February 2013 issue of Handwoven.
If we choose your haiku as our prize winner, we’ll send you two skeins of Bijou Bliss (50% yak/50% cormo wool), one skein of Lhasa Wilderness (75% yak/25% bamboo), and one skein of Bijou Spun fingering weight 100% yak.
While the yarn giveaway is limited to U.S. residents, anyone is eligible to have their poem published. So if you live outside of the U.S., send us your poetry—you just might end up getting published!
To enter the contest send your best weaving or fiber-related haiku to handwoven@interweave.com with the subject line "Handwoven Haiku." Please make sure to include your full name and address so we know where to send the yarn if you win! The deadline to enter is October 15.
