I weave because I can't knit worth beans and crocheting ruined my hands and I needed a really good excuse to spend time at my local yarn shop.  Oh, yes and because I love to weave!

I weave because it is what I was born to do. It was 21 years from the first time I wove until I started weaving everyday. I love everything about the process. I couldn't be happier.

Hi - I weave in retirement to keep my brain active and because I enjoy the challenge of setting up the loom and watching a new draft unfold. Have also discovered some amazing people on-line who have inspired me to develop my skills !

Two years ago I was attending SOAR and I was eating lunch with Sara Lamb. In that 10 minute chat, Sara lit the little spark of weaving in my head. For the next few months I tried to come up with all kinds of reasons on why not to weave. I am happy to say I have totally lost the battle and now if there is not a project on the loom there is one in the planning in my head. I'm a total sell out now. Thanks Sara!

I weave because it satisfies so many things in my life. My joy of uncovering puzzles in the patterns and drawdowns, my need for relaxing the problem solving part of my brain when I am in the Zen of weaving, my love of color. I always felt that I could weave when I saw demonstrations, but came to the actuality of weaving later in life, and it is something I will probably do for the rest of my life.

If it isn't warped, whats weft?  I love weaving.  My passion is handwoven kitchen towels and Huck. Just learned how to do Summer and Winter patterns by Atwater.

jWhy do I weave...my husband thinks I am possessed by a spider spirit!!  I think it's because of the challenges and satisfactions that I experience with the weaving processes; the opportunities to learn; and the need to get busy and "bust my stash" with the help and guidance from Handwoven and Spinning Daily magazines.

I love to weave because I was inspired by my Mother whom a pro weaver for most of her life. I love color! I love to watch how colors intertwine with each other and become something so beautiful. I love the feel of the different wools, fibers and learn how they respond as Im weaving. I find it very relaxing and blessed to be carrying on a tradition that my Mother left me and hope that it will never fade in the future. I love history of weaving, and I cherish every minute of creating something from nature and animals. Its challenging, but my passion! Also, thanks to Handwoven to inspire me even more!

I have just gotten back to weaving after a 20 year hiatus - I love the peaceful, zen-like feeling it gives me as I throw the shuttle - I also like the idea of creating cloth from scratch and want to influence and teach my granddaughters this skill - along with sewing and spinning.  Thanks for the opportunity to win a bundle!  I know it will inspire generations. : )

I love to weave, because weaving I work magic. the threads come together as I dreamed them and create a peace of fabric. and while dancing the weaving i am connected to all the weavers who have come before me, since neolithic time, and those weavers yet to come, in all future.

and by the way I create something useful.

The process of weaving creates fabric from loose threads. The act of doing this seems to have the same effect on me: the loose ends of my mind get woven together, helping me make sense of my life. Its therapy for me, and something lovely emerges .... usually!!

I first learned to weave 15 years ago but recently took it up again after finding a loom at a deal I couldn't refuse. I have been sewing since I was a teenager but weaving has given me another outlet for my creative side. The simple mechanics of a loom has always intrigued me and now I can experiment with simple thread and a variety of patterns to make something that I can say I made myself. I also love to share my knowledge of the process and explain to others how it all works by giving demonstrations whenever I have a chance.

I weave because I just have to do it, and because I really love the interaction between colours and tectures in warp and veft.

I´m from Brazil, so I can´t receive any of this marvelous back issues :(((((((((, but I want to participate anyway: weaving is my safety net, my security zone, my runaway place. Everything may be falling apart around me, but not weaving - in this magical place, lines cross under, over, under,  like crazy, but in the end, everything makes perfect sense...

I started my discovery of weaving by looking under an old tarp in the barn and finding a dismantled loom that my great grandfather made for my great grandmother. My dad told me that they hauled this huge piece of equipment from Sweden, through Elis Island to their new home in America. The more I researched, the more I became interested in weaving. It's become more than a research project, it's a passion. I weave for the touch of the fiber, for the structure of the cloth, for the mechanics of the loom and for becoming part of the history that my ancestors began. Someday, I hope to be a master weaver (however that is defined); so that I can weave for my King. For now...... how fun it is to create!

Weaving is my lifesaver!  The feel of the fiber running through my fingers while measuring a warp is satisfying, but even more satisfying is to take a finished product off the loom.  Weaving gives me the challenges I need to stay sharp, LOL, but it gives me a calming, relaxing feeling.

It's a pity that this is only for US people - we are a lot of weavers in Europe too - spread over several countries, quite often with no guilds whatsoever around. We have to turn to the other side of the Atlantic - but it seems we are not very much appreciated there!

I love the entire process of weaving— from winding the warp to threading, but it’s the throwing that is so much fun! I recently realized throwing a shuttle is similar to another of my passions: swimming. Who knew creating art could be a workout, too?!

I weave for many reasons, but primarily because it's in my blood. It calls to me like a siren song. And when I found out that my 3-times great grandmother was a weaver, it all suddenly made sense. Weaving is like life, full of joy and sometimes heartache..but mostly joy.

Because I like trying new things and there are always new things to try on my floor loom and a rigid heddle loom.  I enjoy seeing what the end result is when "experimenting" with yarn or weave structure.  I love seeing what other people are weaving and knowing what they are doing.
