The High Plains Spinners and Weavers (Northeastern Colorado Fiber Enthusiast) would like to join this study group. Our guild was given several hand made pin looms and we feel that by joining your study group we can explore the potential of these donated looms. We are a small group and have enough looms that each member will be able to take a loom and explore its possibilities. Please let us know what you have done so far so that we can catch up.
Hi Diane,
Glad to have you aboard! This is a very informal study group. As you might have read from earlier posts, I have thrown out a couple of ideas for playing with pin looms - using slow color change sock yarn, overlapping squares instead of joining edge to edge, but we haven't really formally assigned anything.
If there is anything you want to explore specifically - color, structure, etc. - please share it with the group.
Thanks,
john
At our guild meeting this month we passed out our donated pin looms and everyone got started warping and weaving on their loom. The looms were all home made and I don't know if there are any rules about how many pins can be on a side, if it has to be an even or odd number or if it even matters. It took a while to get the hang of the warping but I think we all had it down by the end of the meeting. To begin with everyone is doing a plain weave but we hope to move on to patterns.
