Hello all,
I recently attempted to get a copy of an article from Handwoven magazine scanned and copied to a disc. I happened to have an article in a magazine that a lady needed to look at. I went to two different copy houses and they both told me the same thing. The magazine is copyright protected and therefore cannot be reproduced in the manner that I requested. Period.
No amount of coaxing or flattery towards the women would make them budge. Period.
I just wanted to let you's know about this law. Did y'all know about the law already????
Tony
Hi Tony!
This is absolutely correct. The magazine is copyright protected and the employees at the copiers are doing the right thing. You can download two articles on copyright related to weaving (http://www.weavingtoday.com/media/p/62.aspx). You can access them also at Weaving Today under Free Resources, Tips and Tricks.

Hi, Tony. I had a similar experience when I had bought a book of knitting patterns and just wanted to make a paper copy so I could mark off the rows that I had completed. It's frustrating when your intentions are completely honest, but I respect the copy houses for protecting the copyright holders. I hope you were able to find another solution.

Thanks ladies for your replies.
I was able to find another solution. I mailed it to the lady that had requested the information. And if the truth were to be told...it was actually less expensive to do it this way. lol
Actually, I should have known better. Up til about 4 years ago I did quite a bit of art work. My work was done in graphite. Art is also covered under copyright laws. I just never thought of a weaving article as being protected. But they are..And it's printed in the front of each magazine.
Thanks again for your replies.
