i want to make a shawl but the only warp i have is cotton rug warp can i use this with a wool weft? and if my pattern calls for a 10 dent reed and i have a fifteen dent how can i convert the pattern?

For a few days, I've been thinking about how to respond to your question. I'm wondering if you have a weaving teacher or perhaps belong to a guild? I don't think I would combine cotton rug warp and wool for a shawl. However, if you really want to try this, I suggest that you start out with a sample. You could end up pleasantly surprised. I don't know if you will find my comments helpful, but please DO weave. I can tell you from my own experience that I learn a ton through experimentation.
