Designing is always the time-consuming part of my rep work. In fact, I am working on a rug to honor a former teacher at the Oregon School of Art and Craft. Weavers from the Portland Handweavers Guild were asked to look at Laurie Herrick’s body of work and reinterpret one of her designs. I’ve...

Last weekend, I put on a 27” wide warp for a rep project. There are 82 threading blocks in the project. Each block is 5 ends pattern color alternating with 5 ends background color. As you can see from my loom, I have a sectional warp beam, and warp inch by inch. With a sett of 30 epi for 3/2 cotton...

Here is the profile draft of the treadling I am going to do with the second sampler. The first blocks is a M's & W's. The second is a crackle A-B-C-D-C-B-A. The third is a twill of my own design.

I think you'll find it helpful in keeping touch with the Workshop participants from Convergence, as well as meeting other rep weavers from around the globe. Thanks for asking about THE BOOK. I am coming down the home stretch, and have just learned how...

Traudi ... I posted a sampler to my website ... it's a simple draft based on point twill. Four blocks threaded on a 4-shaft loom. You might find this a quick way to get started. http://www.rosalieneilson.com/Sampler/4_shaft_warp_rep_sampler.htm There's another thread going on in this study group...

Hi Alice ... yes, the sampler is the same as suggested to Robin. Good luck ... cutting cotton into strips for weft means you're half-way there! Rosalie

Hi Robin ... a 4-shaft 4-block warp rep sampler is on my website at the following link-- http://www.rosalieneilson.com/Sampler/4_shaft_warp_rep_sampler.htm The first image shows a thread by thread draft with a description of the four threadings blocks. There are also examples of the types of designs...

Hi Alice ... in my workshops, samplers are around 10-12 inches wide ... but that's because the weaving drafts I've designed contain 29 threading blocks. However, If you want an idea for a sampler, which will give you lots of design potential, I can post a 4-shaft draft using just 7 threading...
